Free Web

You want a website and you do not know what to do next.

Firstly you should understand there are 4 main components in getting your site online:

  1. The design of the site
  2. Registering a domain name for your site
  3. Getting a host to show your site to the world 24/7 beingĀ  online at 99+% of the time.
  4. Search engine optimization (SEO) so that you can be found among 300+ million websites.

This can cost you anything between $1,000 and $5,000 for the average small site., but do not despair.

You can use free hosts with free templates to make it easy and free to get your site online, sometimes all you need to pay is the domain name which can be as low as $10/year.

I recommend Google Sites because it is reliable, easy to set up and a place you can trust for your free host and free site.

A popular free host and site builder is Wix at www.wix.com. They have some of the best looking templates I’ve seen recently.

You can get a free BLOG from WordPress, or from Google.

Joomla is a free, open-source content management system (CMS) and application framework that powers 2.7% of the entire web. You can build very professional looking sites without having to be a Guru.

Then there is Squidoo where you can publish what you know for free and make money.

You may want run your own server on your PC or Notepad to check your webs before you upload them. Try XAMPP which is an easy to install Apache distribution containing MySQL, PHP and Perl.
